PHP Curl de no aceptar las variables

Estoy tratando de pasar algunos argumentos en Curl, pero me doy cuenta de que cuando yo uso de datos de prueba (cadenas sencillas), puedo obtener el resultado (payId y payUrl) pero cuando voy a utilizar variables en lugar de los datos de prueba, me sale nada de nuevo.

¿Cuál es la mejor manera de solucionar este tipo de problema? Es mi primera vez usando Curl así que estoy creando esta función se basa en los artículos que he encontrado aquí.

Por ejemplo, si reemplazar "nombre" con $nombre del cliente, no tengo ningún tipo de retorno de la API.
